How to Look After Your Legs Following a Leg Wax

A professional leg wax is one of the most effective ways to enjoy smooth, hair-free skin for longer. But how you care for your skin after your wax can make all the difference. At The Beauty Spot in Wadebridge, we want you to leave feeling not only polished but comfortable and confident too.

Whether you are new to waxing or a seasoned regular, here are some simple tips to keep your legs feeling soft, calm and beautifully smooth after your leg wax.
1. Avoid heat for 24 hours
After waxing, your skin will be more sensitive than usual. It is best to avoid hot baths, saunas and steam rooms for at least 24 hours. These can irritate the freshly waxed skin and may increase the risk of redness or small bumps.
A cool shower is a good alternative if you want to freshen up without upsetting your skin.
2. Skip the gym for a day
We know how much our clients love their fitness routines, but sweat and friction from exercise can irritate the skin after a leg wax. Give your body a day to settle before heading back to the gym or going for that long walk.
3. Keep products simple
For the first day or two, avoid using heavily scented lotions or body sprays on your legs. Instead, use a gentle, fragrance-free moisturiser to keep your skin soft and hydrated. Aloe vera gel or a light aftercare cream can also help to soothe any sensitivity.
4. No tanning just yet
Waxing removes not only the hair but also the top layer of dead skin cells, which makes your skin more vulnerable to sun exposure. Avoid sunbathing or sunbeds for at least 48 hours after your wax. If you are heading outdoors, cover up or use a high factor SPF to protect your skin.
5. Exfoliate, but not too soon
Wait three to four days before gently exfoliating your legs. This helps prevent ingrown hairs and keeps your skin looking clear and even. Use a mild scrub or exfoliating glove in the shower once or twice a week from then on.
6. Keep it regular
Regular waxing encourages finer, sparser regrowth over time. Most clients return every four to six weeks for their next leg wax. Rebooking before you leave ensures your skin stays smooth without needing to shave in between.
If you ever have any questions about your leg wax or what products to use at home, just ask. Our expert therapists at The Beauty Spot are always here to help you look after your skin with confidence.
