More Than a Treat - A Real Investment in Your Health and Wellbeing

A pedicure is often thought of as a little luxury, something to book before a holiday or a special occasion. But regular pedicures offer far more than painted toenails and an hour of relaxation. From improving foot hygiene to relieving everyday aches and pains, the benefits of keeping on top of your foot care are genuinely significant. Here at The Beauty Spot in Wadebridge, our pedicure treatments are designed to care for your feet properly, using professional Elemis products and a thorough, thoughtful approach.

The key benefits to regular pedicures

The Real Reasons to Book a Pedicure Regularly

Improved Foot Hygiene and Health

Your feet work hard every single day, and without proper attention they can become a breeding ground for bacteria and fungal infections. A professional pedicure involves thorough cleaning, careful nail trimming and shaping, all of which help to remove the build-up of dirt and bacteria that leads to problems such as fungal infections, unpleasant odour and painful ingrown toenails. Regular appointments make it much easier to stay on top of these issues before they become a problem.

Exfoliation and Skin Health

Dead skin cells accumulate on the feet more quickly than almost anywhere else on the body. Without regular exfoliation, this leads to calluses, corns and dry, cracked heels, which can be both uncomfortable and unsightly. During a pedicure, a thorough exfoliation removes that build-up, while moisturising treatments help to keep the skin soft, supple and healthy between visits.

Better Circulation and Reduced Swelling

One of the most overlooked benefits of a pedicure is the massage element. A good foot and leg massage stimulates blood flow, which helps to reduce swelling and relieve the tiredness and aching that comes from spending long hours on your feet. If you stand or walk a great deal as part of your working day, this alone can make a real difference to how you feel.

Pain Relief

Poorly maintained feet can cause more discomfort than most people realise. Overgrown or incorrectly shaped nails, hardened calluses and neglected skin can all contribute to pain that affects how you walk and how you feel throughout the day. Addressing these issues regularly through a professional pedicure helps to alleviate that discomfort and improve your overall comfort and mobility.

Early Detection of Potential Problems

A trained beauty therapist looks closely at your feet and nails during every appointment. This means that early signs of infection, nail disease, bunions or other conditions are much more likely to be spotted before they develop into something more serious. Catching these things early makes them far easier and less costly to address.

Stress Reduction and Self-Care

There is something genuinely restorative about sitting back and letting someone take care of you for an hour. The relaxation involved in a pedicure, from the warm soak to the massage, has a measurable effect on stress levels and general wellbeing. Booking regular appointments is a straightforward and enjoyable way to build a little proper self-care into your routine.

What to expect from a pedicure at The Beauty Spot

Our pedicure treatments are designed to cover every aspect of foot care, using high-quality Elemis products throughout. Here is exactly what is included in a full pedicure with us.

Your feet begin with a relaxing soak in a warm footbath with Elemis Milk Bath, which softens the skin and prepares your feet for treatment. We then cut and shape the nails to your preference before carrying out a thorough exfoliation using Elemis Frangipani Salt Scrub, which buffs away dead skin and leaves your feet feeling smooth and refreshed. The cuticles are then carefully pushed back and checked to ensure everything is neat and healthy.

The treatment is completed with a foot and leg massage using Elemis Mayfair No.9 Body Lotion, which is one of the most soothing and nourishing parts of the whole experience.

When it comes to the finish, you have three options. You can leave with no polish at all if you prefer a natural look, opt for a traditional polish by Mavala, or choose a Shellac by CND. Shellac is a gel-like hybrid polish that offers a beautifully glossy, long-lasting result. It does need to be soaked off professionally when you are ready for a change, so it is worth bearing that in mind when booking.
